So, poor Kyah has had some life trauma lately. On Friday she had to have 7 cavities filled. We went in in the morning, she did not want to be sedated. So, she was so very brave and got all numbed up. The second they started to drill she started gagging and choking. She soon became very hysterical. I finally got her talked into coming back later and being put to sleep. We went for some bribery and then home. All the while she is totally numb--which is really annoying for anyone. I had to bring her back about 3-4 hours later. They had me give her a Valium an hour before. She was becoming quite out of it just about the time I had to take her back in.
This is her watching Ariel, and not knowing what is about to hit her next.
Everything seems fine to her at this point--no needles yet.
Then came the abuse, an IV in her arm.
I don't know how to flip this picture, so you'll have to look at it sideways! Anyway, she soon was knocked out. Her eyes rolled in the back of her head and I started bawling. I was teared up the whole time she was in there, but the water works started at that point. It was so horrible to me, she looked dead practically! I walked as fast as my hugely pregnant body could carry me out the door and immediately called Brian. I was in front of the building in tears talking to Brian, about how ridiculous I was acting. I am pretty emotional right now, nearing the end of the pregnancy. I finally pulled myself together and went back and waited for her to be finished.
This was her as she was just waking up, and that was the last time she was calm. She was kicking and really combative the whole way home and then after. I felt so bad for her because she was totally numb again, and really swollen. She was trying to talk and I could not understand a word she was saying because her mouth was so big and swollen. She was totally happy that night, but boy was it a long afternoon for us both!
The kids are hanging out snuggling in our bed!
This is our patio cover, being started. It is now finished, and I really should take a picture!
This was Kyah's other traumatizing experience, which you can't tell from this picture because she looks really happy. That was one of her bribes she is holding. These pictures are in reverse order, so hopefully it will not be too confusing. I am also happy to report that she now loves her earings and has no remaining ill effects of her bad experience!!
As the day wore on, I could not bare the thought of her having her ear piercings totally lop sided. I knew as she grew older she would wonder why I did not make it right originally. So, through blood, sweat, tears, and quite a bit of bribery I forced her back in to have the one side redone. The worker claimed she had never done anything like that before, they were always perfect. Quite unfortunate she had to make her mistake on a girl who was so freaked about it after it happened the first time. So, this is us right before it was redone. I am happy to report the girl who re-did the piercing had approximately 25 piercings herself! I assumed from her piercings she may have done this a few times before. All was well!
We went home and made some delicious peanut butter brownies. I think I might have eaten the whole pan myself.
She seemed okay shortly after, and all seemed well.
She went from sad to down right hysterical. I felt so bad. I felt even worse when I noticed one side was much lower than the other.
This is right after she had it done, and she was pretty sad.
She is about to get them pierced, and she has no idea that she will be bawling her head off in about 10 seconds.
Kyah decided she really wanted her ears pierced, which I thought I would never take her in to do until she was a lot older. In a moment of weakness Bri and I took her in. We decided to seize the moment, (since she is a very big chicken) and get it done. It seemed like such a good idea at the time.
I thought I would throw a picture of Holden in the mix, even though it is hard to see him in there.
This was Kyah's 1st day of preschool!! She loves it so much!
The three kids hanging out on the counter. Brevan's first time in the Bumbo chair.
Porter losing another tooth!! He has the attractive "I have never taken care of my teeth and they have all rotted out of my head look". He does have the one front tooth left, with all others on each side of it missing. Just perfect for this school pictures which were just taken last week.
Kyah went to Thanksgiving Point and rode a pony, which had braids in it's hair. From that point on she has wanted braids. The more braids the merrier in her case. Her signature piggy might be gone for good, I guess we'll see?!!
This is Porter's 1st day of 2nd grade. His teacher is Mrs. Jenkins.
